Welcome to the website of the Martinist Order of Unknown Philosophers (or M.O.U.P.).  This line is descended from the Lyon Martinists, who were the proud guardians - and martyrs for - the Martinist tradition during the Second World War.

The line is distinctly spiritual and Christian in outlook, and owes this strong influence to Constant Chevillon, who was himself a bishop in the independent Catholic and gnostic traditions.

The M.O.U.P. possesses two lines of filiation, that of the Ordre Martiniste, and also that of Chevillon-Chambellant through the Ordre Martiniste de Lyon, which has infused our lines with the very essence of Constant Chevillon's spirituality, and also that of Maītre Phillippe de Lyon, who together permeate the whole of our Martinist tradition.

Membership of the M.O.U.P. is open to all men and women who profess a belief in a Supreme Being.  While prior membership in a Masonic tradition is welcomed it is not essential.  However, all applicants with Masonic connections must belong to either Blue Lodges, The Rite of Memphis-Mizraļm, or Co-Masonry, where there is a belief in the Supreme Being and an understanding that all religions carry a spark of the Divine Light, and are worthy of veneration and study.

In this website we hope to bring resources those interested in the Christian Esotericism of the Martinist Order.  Most key books and articles remain in their original French, and part of our mission is to encourage the setting up of a central catalogue to enable the seeker after translations to find the works he or she requires.

The Martinist Order of Unknown Philosophers has a large and ever growing circle of Lodges in England, Germany, Spain, Romania, Greece, Central America, the Greater Antilles, Canada and the United States, which welcome all men and women who seek both the mystical path of Saint-Martin, and also the theurgic path of his original master, Martinez de Pasqually.  It also welcomes any members of Martinist Orders who have been validly initiated to their meetings, for we are one family:  we may come from different branches but we all descend from the one tree.
